Luria Agar
Luria Agar Base, Miller is a nutritionally rich medium designed for growth of pure cultures of recombinant strains, is based on the Luria Broth formula described by Miller1 and is used for maintenance and propagation of Escherichia coli. This medium is the standard nutrient media for the propagation, protein expression of Escherichia coli strains used in molecular biological studies. Chloramphenicol may be added to inhibit host synthesis and as a result, prevent replication of the bacterial chromosome2.Luria Agar Base, Miller contains one tenth and one twentieth the sodium chloride level of the LB Agar, Lennox and LB Agar, Miller formulations1-3 allowing researchers to select the optimal salt concentration for a specific strain.
